In late 2019, three Transylvania County commissioners left the Republican Party after saying they were fed up with President Trump and his behavior.
On this week’s episode of Tying It Together with Tim Boyum, Tim travels to the North Carolina Mountains to hear from two of those commissioners about how national politics infiltrated local politics during the 2020 election.
Page Lemel and Mike Hawkins were up for reelection this fall, and they felt the wrath of this ruby red Republican county. It was a story that made national news when the New Yorker profiled them this past summer.
